Just ok
It is lovely and lightweight on the skin, but it doesn't offer much in the way of moisturisation. This would be best suited to the oiliest of skin types and better for the summertime. The cream smells a bit 'off' almost algae-like so I didn't find that using this was a very nice experience. I think it's great that the brand offers refills - for those who use and love it.

Not great for sensitive skin
This algae moisturiser is an avocado colour very similar to guacamole but does not leave a green tint on the skin. It’s described as a lightweight gel texture but it’s quite gloopy and a little more tacky than silky feeling, which may be due the oils in the ingredients. On my combo dehydrated skin I need to apply a lot and it feels like it sits a little bit on top of the skin, smaller amounts do absorb better but are not hydrating enough. My oily t zone is left a little shiny, my skin is also very sensitive and as with a lot of organic skincare there is something it in that causes me slight irritation and luckily I patch tested as I had to rinse it off some more sensitive patches. For me it’s not soothing and calming it’s just not a good match for my skin. The scent is similar to unscented carrier oil or cooking oil that’s expired, it wouldn’t put me off if I loved the cream but it’s not pleasant. I like that it’s a refillable container but it’s not a cream I would recommend without testing it first.

The freshness!
I was so excited when this moisturiser was announced and thoroughly loved using it the first time I got it last year when it was launched. I then got made redundant so had to cut out my more expensive skincare and I noticed a massive difference! I’ve just started using this again in the mornings after my minty mineral mist and my skin just drinks it up! It feels more plump after using it and definitely more glowy.

Hydrating but terrible smell
I purchased this refill pod a few months ago and I still haven’t used it up. It is a light moisturiser, maybe too light. Perhaps it will be more suitable for an only skin in summer. The problem is the smell - so so off putting. It smells like spirulina, it also separates. Not a great experience in general. I will not repurchase.
