wanted to love it, but can't recommend
i'm an ilia fan — i swear by their mascara, adore their foundation (matching olive-toned skin is a nightmare with most other brands, i've found), and love both their primers... but this lip balm was a disappointment. i got the limited edition set that was available a couple months ago, with a full-size of the original edition of this product + some tinted minis. the tinted versions had beautiful pigment but weren't viable as actual lip balms at all with how they usually left my lips feeling a bit dried out — but that would have been forgiveable imo, as they *were* modifications to the original formula. the problem is that the clear version was a disappointment too. if i'm being generous, i'd say it just doesn't have a shelf life at all comparable to what it claims (the tube says 12 months) — i bought it maybe 3 months ago (i'm halfway through the tube, probably), and by now i can definitively confirm that even applying a healthy layer of it, after 2 hours my lips are dry, AND even with reapplication over the course of an entire day there is absolutely no tangible difference in how dry/chapped my lips are. it does seem like maybe it's legitimately become less effective since i bought it, but frankly i'm not certain that i wasn't just being placeboed at first by how nice it initially feels on your lips and my trust in the brand based on their other products. i will say that for a tinted option, i had tried one shade of their tinted lip balm stick and legitimately liked that, but i really can't recommend this one for actually moisturizing your lips.
